[ NNSquad ] Comments from a BT insider re BT's "video blocking" remarks

I received the following from a party familiar with these issues
within BT, who asked that their name be withheld:

In Nov there's going to be a vote in Brussels in the EU Parliament
about the new telco regulatory framework; part of the package in
discussion includes increase of the remuneration (WACC) of the
infrastructure for new networks (+8-12% for those who upgrade to
   FTTx)

There's loads of people against this (who doesn't want to pay less
and less ?), but it's needed in order to increase capacity. In the
end, I believe this statement does not represent a true position of
BT (although they might reinforce the message with some kind of
related activity (maybe at the regulator, maybe excessive increase
in wholesale price, etc)) but rather a message to uk parties in
order to try to get acceptance for the regulatory package review.
