"Google took its biggest leap yet onto Facebook's turf on Tuesday,
introducing a social networking service called the Google+ project --
which happens to look very much like Facebook. The service, which
will initially be available only to a select group of Google users who
will soon be able to invite others, will let people share and discuss
status updates, photos and links."

My initial impression (after a relatively brief period of exploration
so far) is that the interface, defaults, tools for
"compartmentalization" of sharing groups ("Circles"), as well as
overall privacy controls -- are all well thought out. I'll have
additional comments after I've had time to explore the environment in
depth.
