[ NNSquad ] A phone, a concert, and "sorry about that"

A phone, a concert, and "sorry about that"

By now you've probably heard about the performance of the New York
Philharmonic that was brought to a halt by a continually ringing cell
phone playing a particularly obnoxious ringtone. Today the culprit
has come forward -- his identity protected since so many people are
out for his blood -- and he has a convincing story, relating to
inexperience with a new company-provided iPhone, and the iPhone's
"feature" of playing alarms even when the phone is set to "silent"
mode. The New York Times tells his strange tech story: http://j.mp/zXBtIz

But the problems illustrated by this event were definitively predicted
nearly a half century ago, in fact on September 18, 1965, within the
first minute of the debut episode of a network television series that
was to become a classic. "Sorry about that!"
