"Will Google's New "Red Team" Keep It Out Of The Privacy Danger Zone?"

http://j.mp/Rh0lur (Marketing Land)

"According to a Google job listing and several stories this morning
Google is building an internal "Red Team" to address privacy and
    security issues."

 - - -

You'll probably recall I noted that job listing yesterday. Regarding
the "Marketing Land" article referenced above, and leaving aside for
the moment that personally I feel that various of the "privacy
concerns" identified in that article were much ado about practically
nothing, my assumption is that this apparently new
engineering-oriented team will work in close coordination with
existing privacy and other policy teams at Google, and of course there
are already employees at Google whose primary focus is ensuring
privacy compliance in Google products and services.

That said, I think it's fair to stipulate that there is often a
significant gulf between the engineering and policy sides at many
technology-oriented firms (not limited by any means to Google). This
is likely at least partly due to the simple fact that finding suitable
people who have their feet significantly in both the engineering and
policy worlds can be a decidedly nontrivial task.
