"XKEYSCORE" - The *least* secret NSA program in recent memory

You may have heard quite a bit of breathless reporting today about a
supposedly new "expose" from Edward Snowden's document cache --
regarding the NSA "XKEYSCORE" program.

You can look up the various stories easily enough, but there are a few
points of note:

1) All evidence is that this is a database search program for existing
collected data, not a data collection program.

2) The NSA training slides being promulgated are years old, and appear to
date to before the widespread deployment of opportunistic connection
   encryption by major Web services.

[Now it starts to get amusing ...]

3) XKEYSCORE experience apparently turns up frequently in many people's
   LinkedIn profiles.

4) XKEYSCORE job listings are opening promoted, e.g.:

Hmm. XKEYSCORE, winner of the worst kept intelligence "secret"
of the year ...
