Online voter registration comes to California

     "Senate Bill 397, by Sen. Leland Yee, D-San Francisco, allows to
      (sic) state to begin registering voters online ahead of the
      completion of a new statewide voter registration database."

The ramifications of this are not entirely clear, since it allows the
"tapping" of an existing signature based on information that is not
widely protected in the first place (DL#, last 4 digits of SSN, DOB).
